AI screening calls for high-volume hiring
From ₹1 a minute at volume (₹1,00,000/month commitment), or ₹5 pay as you go, no commitment
₹1 is the T1 voice rate. On T1, Mirai phone calling (₹0.30/min) and call insights (₹0.20/min) are optional; T5 includes both. All prices exclude GST.
From ₹1 a minute on the volume plan (₹5 a minute pay as you go), an agent calls every applicant for the roles you hire in bulk and asks the same screening questions: where they live, when they can join, what experience they have and what pay they expect. Recruiters get a sortable sheet of answers and the agent tells each candidate the next step. People make every hiring decision; the agent only collects the answers.
No sign-up to look around.
On T1, per connected call
₹3.50for a 210-second call at ₹1/min
T1 has a ₹1,00,000 monthly commitment. Pay as you go on T5, the same call is ₹17.50.

A written example of the script, not a recording. Your agent says what your prompt tells it to, in your customer's language.

नमस्ते Deepak जी, मैं Acme Logistics की hiring team की AI assistant बोल रही हूँ। आपने Pune में delivery partner की job के लिए apply किया था। चार-पाँच सवाल पूछ सकती हूँ?
Hello Deepak, I'm the AI assistant of Acme Logistics' hiring team. You applied for a delivery partner job in Pune. May I ask four or five questions?
- Caller
हाँ, पूछिए।
Yes, go ahead.
- Agent

Which area of Pune do you live in, and do you have your own bike and a driving licence?

Hadapsar में। Bike है, licence अभी बन रहा है, अगले हफ़्ते मिल जाएगा।

Okay. Have you done delivery work before?

Noted. Our recruiter will contact you within two days about an interview. Thank you, Deepak.
What you send
One row per person you call
Upload a CSV to a campaign, or send the same fields as call variables from your own system. The phone number comes first; the other columns are what the agent reads out or decides on.
| Column | Example | What goes in it |
|---|---|---|
phoneRequired | +91… | The number to call, with the country code (+91…). A ten-digit Indian mobile gets +91 added. In Excel, format this column as Text first so the number is not changed. |
candidate_nameOptional | Deepak | — |
roleOptional | delivery partner | — |
cityOptional | Pune | — |
pay_detailsOptional | ₹18,000 fixed plus a per-order incentive | The only pay figures the agent may quote. Leave it blank if you'd rather it didn't discuss pay. |
next_stepOptional | a recruiter will call within two days about an interview | — |
applied_viaOptional | job portal | Extra info for your reports. The agent never sees it. |
candidate_idOptional | CAN-30871 | Extra info, returned in every webhook. |
What comes back
The result of every call
Each call ends with one webhook event that carries the transcript and the result, and the campaign report has a row for every contact. These are the result fields an agent for this job fills in.
| Field | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|
flow.variables.current_area | Hadapsar | With a node-based agent, each step extracts its own values. You name them. |
flow.variables.has_two_wheeler | true | Yours to define. |
flow.variables.licence_status | in process, expected next week | Yours to define, as free text or fixed values. |
flow.variables.experience_months | 6 | Yours to define. Ask the step to convert 'six months' or 'one and a half years' into a number. |
flow.variables.expected_salary | 20000-22000 | Yours to define. |
flow.final_node | close | Where the call ended. A call that ends early at the first step usually means the candidate was busy or not interested. |
metadata.candidate_id | CAN-30871 | Your applicant-tracking id, unchanged. |
Cost
What a 210-second call costs
Worked out from our price list. 210 seconds is our assumption for a typical connected call of this kind, not a measurement from your calls. Put your own volumes into the AI calling cost calculator.
| Tier | Rate | Per connected call | Per 1,000 connected calls | Monthly minimum |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | ₹1 / min | ₹3.50 | ₹3,500 | ₹1,00,000 a month |
| T3 | ₹3 / min | ₹10.50 | ₹10,500 | ₹50,000 a month |
| T5 | ₹5 / min | ₹17.50 | ₹17,500 | None |
- T5 and T3 include Mirai phone calling and call insights. On T1 they are optional: phone calling at ₹0.30/min and insights at ₹0.20/min. With both on, this call comes to about ₹5.25 on T1. Mirai phone calling is metered on the carrier's billing block, so treat that figure as an estimate.
- T1's ₹1,00,000 monthly minimum pays for 28,571 calls of this length; T3's ₹50,000 monthly minimum pays for 4,761 calls of this length. Monthly commitments are credited to your wallet. Unused credit never expires. Paid usage counts towards the minimum, and only a shortfall is settled at month end.
- Calls that ring out, are busy or fail to connect are not billed. A voicemail is billed like a connected call.
In detail
AI screening calls for high-volume hiring: in detail
Why use an agent for the first screening call?
High-volume roles bring hundreds of applications a week, and most of them need the same five-minute call before anyone can decide on an interview. Recruiters spend whole days dialling, half the candidates don’t pick up, and the ones who do are often driving, at work or already in another company’s process. By the time someone calls back, a good candidate may have taken another offer.
An agent can call the whole list as applications come in and ask every candidate the same questions in the same order: area, joining date, experience, the role’s must-haves such as a two-wheeler or a licence, and pay expectation. That consistency helps your recruiters, because every answer lands in the same column and can be sorted. It’s also fairer to candidates, who all get asked the same things and nothing more.
Delivery partners, warehouse associates, telecallers and retail staff are the roles where this fits. A senior hire, where the first conversation is already a sales pitch for your company, should stay with a person.
How do you set it up?
- Build it as a node-based agent. In Agent Studio, choose Create agent, then Node-based, and either describe the screening or give it transcripts of two or three of your recruiters’ best screening calls. You get a draft flow with one step per question, which you can edit.
- Check each step. Tell it what value to extract and how to normalise it: experience in months, salary as a range in rupees, licence status as a short phrase.
- Pass the role’s facts as variables:
{{role}},{{city}},{{pay_details}},{{next_step}}. If the candidate asks about pay, the agent quotes{{pay_details}}and nothing else. - Add
schedule_callbackfor candidates who are busy, and have the first step ask whether it’s a good time before anything else. - Test it in the browser as a strong candidate, one who’s driving, and one who only wants to know the salary.
- Upload the applicant list as a campaign, with the candidate id and the source as extra info. If the same people apply through several portals, the console’s option to skip numbers reached in an earlier campaign stops you calling them twice. It applies to every earlier campaign in your workspace, so check that’s what you want.
- Download CSV from the campaign gives one row per candidate with the extracted answers, ready for your applicant tracker. Or read
data.call.flowfromcall.processedin your webhook handler.
What should recruiters still do?
Decide. The agent shouldn’t tell anyone they’re rejected, promise a job, or negotiate pay. Interviews, offers, document checks and background verification stay with your team. Questions about religion, caste, marital status or family plans have no place in the script, and if a candidate raises something sensitive, the agent should note that a recruiter will follow up and move on. It can’t transfer a call to a recruiter, so a candidate who wants to talk to someone gets a promised callback.
What should you check before calling applicants?
Someone who applied to your posting expects a call about it. A list bought or scraped from elsewhere is a different matter, and you should check TRAI’s current rules and your consent records before calling it. TRAI’s Third Amendment to the TCCCPR, notified on 18 September 2026, also asks every sender to declare software-placed calls, including those using artificial voice, to its originating telecom provider in advance with the numbers it will use, and treats undeclared ones as unsolicited. It comes into force in stages after publication.
Candidate answers are personal data. Recordings and transcripts are kept for 90 days, so copy what you need into your own system and limit who can open them.
What does a screening call cost?
You pay for connected minutes only, and a candidate who doesn’t pick up costs nothing. On T1 a connected minute costs ₹1 with a ₹1,00,000 monthly commitment, plus ₹0.30 for Mirai phone calling and ₹0.20 for call insights if you switch them on. On T5 it’s ₹5 a minute, pay as you go, with both included. Prices exclude GST. The cost block assumes about three and a half minutes connected, an estimate for five questions and a pay discussion; a busy candidate who asks for a callback costs seconds. Weigh that against a recruiter’s hour on the phone. Pricing has all three plans, and the cost calculator takes your applicant volume.

Questions
Does the agent decide who gets hired?
No. It asks the same questions of every candidate and records the answers. Your recruiters sort the sheet and decide who to interview. Don't let the prompt reject anyone on the call.
What if the candidate is busy when we call?
Add the schedule_callback builtin. The agent asks when to call back, reads the time back and books a new call to the same person, by default between 30 minutes and 14 days ahead. A candidate riding a bike should never be kept on the line.
Can it handle candidates who only speak Hindi?
Yes. The agent is tuned for Hindi, Indian English and the mix of the two, and it follows the language the candidate answers in. Write the Hindi lines of the prompt in Devanagari. For other Indian languages, ask us first.
How can a screening call cost ₹1 a minute?
₹1 a minute is the T1 voice rate, for teams that commit ₹1,00,000 a month, and the commitment is credited to your wallet. We can price it there because we run our own speech recognition, language model and voice on our own GPUs in India; owning the stack is how we keep a minute cheap at volume. On T1, Mirai phone calling adds ₹0.30 a minute (nothing from us if you bring your own Plivo number) and call insights add ₹0.20 a minute if you turn them on. Wallet credit never expires, though the commitment is a monthly minimum spend. A smaller hiring team starts on T5 at ₹5 a minute, pay as you go, with phone calling and insights included. T3 is ₹3 a minute with a ₹50,000 commitment. Prices exclude GST.
