AI renewal reminder calls for insurance and subscriptions
From ₹1 a minute at volume (₹1,00,000/month commitment), or ₹5 pay as you go, no commitment
₹1 is the T1 voice rate. On T1, Mirai phone calling (₹0.30/min) and call insights (₹0.20/min) are optional; T5 includes both. All prices exclude GST.
From ₹1 a minute on the volume plan (₹5 a minute pay as you go), an agent calls before a policy or subscription lapses, says what is expiring and when, quotes the renewal amount you passed in, and asks whether the customer wants to renew. Questions it can't answer from your figures, like why the premium changed or what a plan covers, become an advisor callback. You get the customer's intent, any objection in their words and the renewal-link template to send, and a pre-call check keeps the agent away from people who already renewed.
No sign-up to look around.
On T1, per connected call
₹2.50for a 150-second call at ₹1/min
T1 has a ₹1,00,000 monthly commitment. Pay as you go on T5, the same call is ₹12.50.

How a call goes
A written example of the script, not a recording. Your agent says what your prompt tells it to, in your customer's language.
- Agent
नमस्ते Vikas जी, मैं Acme Insurance Services की AI assistant बोल रही हूँ। आपकी car insurance policy अट्ठाईस October को खत्म हो रही है, renewal के बारे में बात करने के लिए call किया।
Hello Vikas, I'm Acme Insurance Services' AI assistant. Your car insurance policy ends on 28 October, and I'm calling about the renewal.
- Caller
हाँ, पर इस बार premium ज़्यादा क्यों लग रहा है?
Yes, but why does the premium look higher this time?
- Agent
इस साल का renewal premium आठ हज़ार चार सौ रुपये है। बदलाव की वजह की detail मेरे पास नहीं है, वो हमारे advisor आपको समझा देंगे।
This year's renewal premium is 8,400 rupees. I don't have the details of why it changed; our advisor can explain that.
- Caller
ठीक है। Renew तो करना ही है, link भेज दो, मैं देख लूँगा।
Okay. I do want to renew; send me the link and I'll look at it.
- Agent
ज़रूर, renewal link WhatsApp पर आ जाएगा। Premium के बारे में advisor से भी बात करना चाहेंगे?
Sure, the renewal link will come on WhatsApp. Would you also like to speak to an advisor about the premium?
- Caller
हाँ, Saturday सुबह call करवा दो।
Yes, have them call on Saturday morning.
- Agent
Saturday सुबह advisor का call, note कर लिया। अट्ठाईस October से पहले renew हो जाए तो policy बिना gap के चलती रहेगी। धन्यवाद Vikas जी।
An advisor call on Saturday morning, noted. If it's renewed before 28 October, the policy continues without a gap. Thank you, Vikas.
What you send
One row per person you call
Upload a CSV to a campaign, or send the same fields as call variables from your own system. The phone number comes first; the other columns are what the agent reads out or decides on.
| Column | Example | What goes in it |
|---|---|---|
phoneRequired | +91… | The number to call, with the country code (+91…). A ten-digit Indian mobile gets +91 added. In Excel, format this column as Text first so the number is not changed. |
customer_nameOptional | Vikas | — |
policy_typeOptional | car insurance | — |
expiry_dateOptional | 28 October | — |
renewal_amountOptional | 8400 | The only figure the agent may quote. Leave reasons and coverage details out unless your advisors have approved the wording. |
renewal_channelOptional | WhatsApp link | — |
policy_refOptional | POL-2025-118204 | Extra info. Never read out on the call, returned in every webhook. |
What comes back
The result of every call
Each call ends with one webhook event that carries the transcript and the result, and the campaign report has a row for every contact. These are the result fields an agent for this job fills in.
| Field | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|
analysis.data.renewal_intent | will_renew_online | A field you define, for example renewed_already, will_renew_online, wants_advisor, undecided or not_renewing. |
analysis.data.objection | premium higher than last year | Yours to define. Free text in the customer's terms. |
analysis.data.advisor_callback | true | Whether the customer asked to speak to a person. |
analysis.data.callback_time | Saturday morning | When they asked for the advisor call. |
analysis.template.name | renewal_link_hi | The approved message the analysis picked for your system to send, with the link added on your side. |
metadata.policy_ref | POL-2025-118204 | Your reference, unchanged. |
Cost
What a 150-second call costs
Worked out from our price list. 150 seconds is our assumption for a typical connected call of this kind, not a measurement from your calls. Put your own volumes into the AI calling cost calculator.
| Tier | Rate | Per connected call | Per 1,000 connected calls | Monthly minimum |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | ₹1 / min | ₹2.50 | ₹2,500 | ₹1,00,000 a month |
| T3 | ₹3 / min | ₹7.50 | ₹7,500 | ₹50,000 a month |
| T5 | ₹5 / min | ₹12.50 | ₹12,500 | None |
- T5 and T3 include Mirai phone calling and call insights. On T1 they are optional: phone calling at ₹0.30/min and insights at ₹0.20/min. With both on, this call comes to about ₹3.75 on T1. Mirai phone calling is metered on the carrier's billing block, so treat that figure as an estimate.
- T1's ₹1,00,000 monthly minimum pays for 40,000 calls of this length; T3's ₹50,000 monthly minimum pays for 6,666 calls of this length. Monthly commitments are credited to your wallet. Unused credit never expires. Paid usage counts towards the minimum, and only a shortfall is settled at month end.
- Calls that ring out, are busy or fail to connect are not billed. A voicemail is billed like a connected call.
In detail
AI renewal reminder calls for insurance and subscriptions: in detail
Why use an agent for renewal reminders?
Most lapses happen through forgetting. The customer meant to renew, the reminder email went to a promotions folder, and the policy or membership quietly expired. A call a couple of weeks before expiry reaches people email doesn’t, and the conversation is short when they already intend to renew: here’s the date, here’s the amount, shall we send the link.
The calls where the customer hesitates are the interesting ones. “Premium ज़्यादा क्यों है”, “I’m comparing other quotes”, “I sold the car”. The agent shouldn’t try to argue anyone out of those. It records the objection in the customer’s words, offers an advisor, and books the callback. Your advisors then spend their day on the people who need a conversation, and each of those calls starts with the question already known.
The example is motor insurance sold through a distributor. A gym membership, a software subscription or a DTH plan follows the same steps with different facts.
How do you set it up?
- Write the prompt around four facts per customer:
{{policy_type}},{{expiry_date}},{{renewal_amount}}and{{renewal_channel}}. Say plainly in the prompt that it must not explain coverage, compare plans, or guess why an amount changed. - Add a pre-call tool that checks renewal status in your system, with
skip_callfor anyone already renewed. - Turn on analysis with
renewal_intent,objection,advisor_callbackandcallback_time. If your WhatsApp templates are approved in your messaging tool, let the analysis fetch the current list after each call, so a newly approved template is available without editing the agent. - Test in the browser as a customer who renews straight away, one who objects to the price and one who has sold the vehicle.
- Upload the expiring list as a campaign some weeks ahead of the dates, with a calling window, one retry and a budget. Keep the policy reference as extra info.
- Your webhook handler takes
call.processed, sends the chosen template with the renewal link, and creates the advisor callbacks in your own system. - Closer to expiry, filter the contacts still undecided or not reached and press New campaign from these for a second round. A number is called once inside a campaign, which is why the second round is a new one.
What should advisors keep?
Advice. Explaining coverage, add-ons, claim history and why a premium moved is a conversation for your trained staff, and in a regulated product like insurance it should stay with them. Anyone thinking of not renewing is worth a human call, and so is anyone who mentions a claim or an accident. The agent can’t transfer a call, so it books the advisor callback instead, and the advisor gets the objection with it.
What should you check before calling customers?
TRAI’s Third Amendment to the TCCCPR, notified on 18 September 2026, describes a service call as one giving customers information about a product or service they’ve taken, and says these calls aren’t promotional and don’t need explicit consent. A reminder that a policy the customer holds is expiring is close to that. Offering a different plan, an add-on or a top-up on the same call makes it promotional, so decide which call you’re making and keep the script to it.
The amendment also asks senders to declare software-placed and artificial-voice calls to their originating telecom provider in advance, with the numbers they’ll use, and treats undeclared ones as unsolicited. It comes into force in stages. Any rules from your own sector regulator apply on top of TRAI’s, so check with your compliance team. For calling hours, check TRAI’s current rules and your consent records, and scrub against DND before you upload, because we don’t scrub for you.
What does a renewal call cost?
On T1 a connected minute costs ₹1 with a ₹1,00,000 monthly commitment, plus ₹0.30 for Mirai phone calling and ₹0.20 for call insights if you switch them on. On T5 it’s ₹5 a minute, pay as you go, with both included. Prices exclude GST. Connected time is billed and unanswered calls are free. The cost block assumes about two and a half minutes connected, an estimate for a call with one question and a callback; a quick “हाँ, link भेज दो” is far shorter. Compare it with the commission or subscription revenue a lapse costs you. See Pricing, or try your list size in the cost calculator.

Questions
Can the agent explain what the policy covers?
Only from wording you've given it and approved. For anything about coverage, claims or why a premium changed, the agent should offer an advisor callback and note the question, so the advisor starts the call already knowing it.
Can the customer pay on the call?
No. The agent shouldn't take card or UPI details. The analysis picks the renewal-link message from your approved templates, and your system adds the link and sends it.
What about customers who renewed yesterday?
A pre-call tool can check your system just before each call, and a skip_call rule stops the call when the policy is already renewed. Skipped calls aren't dialled or charged.
Can we call again closer to the expiry date?
Yes, with a new campaign. A number is called once within a campaign, so filter the contacts that are still undecided or weren't reached and press New campaign from these for the second round.
How can a renewal call cost ₹1 a minute?
₹1 a minute is the T1 voice rate, for teams that commit ₹1,00,000 a month, and the commitment is credited to your wallet. We can price it there because we run our own speech recognition, language model and voice on our own GPUs in India; owning the stack is how we keep a minute cheap at volume. On T1, Mirai phone calling adds ₹0.30 a minute (nothing from us if you bring your own Plivo number) and call insights add ₹0.20 a minute if you turn them on. Wallet credit never expires, though the commitment is a minimum monthly spend. An agency trying it on one month's expiring policies can start on T5 at ₹5 a minute, pay as you go, with phone calling and insights included. T3 is ₹3 a minute with a ₹50,000 commitment. Prices exclude GST.
