Polite AI reminder calls before a payment falls due
From ₹1 a minute at volume (₹1,00,000/month commitment), or ₹5 pay as you go, no commitment
₹1 is the T1 voice rate. On T1, Mirai phone calling (₹0.30/min) and call insights (₹0.20/min) are optional; T5 includes both. All prices exclude GST.
From ₹1 a minute on the volume plan (₹5 a minute pay as you go), an agent calls a few days before an EMI, invoice or subscription payment is due, states the amount and the date, and asks whether the payment is on track. It doesn't threaten, argue or discuss the account with anyone except the customer. You get back whether they've paid, the date they promised, and any dispute, and the analysis can pick the SMS or WhatsApp message your system sends next.
No sign-up to look around.
On T1, per connected call
₹1.50for a 90-second call at ₹1/min
T1 has a ₹1,00,000 monthly commitment. Pay as you go on T5, the same call is ₹7.50.

How a call goes
A written example of the script, not a recording. Your agent says what your prompt tells it to, in your customer's language.
- Agent
नमस्ते, मैं Acme Finance की तरफ़ से AI assistant Neha बोल रही हूँ। क्या मेरी बात Sunita Patil जी से हो रही है?
Hello, I'm Neha, an AI assistant calling for Acme Finance. Am I speaking with Sunita Patil?
- Caller
हाँ, मैं ही हूँ।
Yes, speaking.
- Agent
धन्यवाद। आपकी two-wheeler loan की EMI, चार हज़ार दो सौ रुपये, पाँच November को due है। बस याद दिलाने के लिए call किया।
Thank you. Your two-wheeler loan EMI of 4,200 rupees is due on 5 November. I'm just calling as a reminder.
- Caller
हाँ पता है, पर इस बार salary सात तारीख को आएगी।
Yes, I know, but this time my salary comes on the 7th.
- Agent
समझ गई। तो क्या आप सात November को payment कर पाएँगी?
I understand. So will you be able to pay on 7 November?
- Caller
हाँ, सात या आठ को कर दूँगी। Late fee लगेगी क्या?
Yes, I'll pay on the 7th or 8th. Will there be a late fee?
- Agent
Late fee की सही जानकारी मेरे पास नहीं है, आपकी branch इसके बारे में बता देगी। मैं सात November note कर लेती हूँ। क्या payment link SMS पर भेज दें?
I don't have the exact late-fee details; your branch can tell you. I'll note 7 November. Shall we send the payment link by SMS?
- Caller
हाँ, भेज दीजिए।
Yes, please send it.
- Agent
ठीक है, link आपको SMS पर मिल जाएगा। धन्यवाद Sunita जी, आपका दिन शुभ हो।
Okay, you'll get the link by SMS. Thank you Sunita, have a good day.
What you send
One row per person you call
Upload a CSV to a campaign, or send the same fields as call variables from your own system. The phone number comes first; the other columns are what the agent reads out or decides on.
| Column | Example | What goes in it |
|---|---|---|
phoneRequired | +91… | The number to call, with the country code (+91…). A ten-digit Indian mobile gets +91 added. In Excel, format this column as Text first so the number is not changed. |
customer_nameOptional | Sunita Patil | Use the full name, so the agent can confirm it's speaking to the right person before saying anything about the account. |
productOptional | two-wheeler loan | — |
amount_dueOptional | 4200 | A plain number. The prompt tells the agent to say it in words. |
due_dateOptional | 5 November | — |
payment_methodsOptional | UPI, net banking or at the branch | — |
loan_account_refOptional | LN-4471902 | Extra info. Never read out on the call, returned in every webhook. |
What comes back
The result of every call
Each call ends with one webhook event that carries the transcript and the result, and the campaign report has a row for every contact. These are the result fields an agent for this job fills in.
| Field | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|
analysis.data.payment_status | will_pay_later | A field you define, for example already_paid, will_pay_on_time, will_pay_later, disputed or not_reached. |
analysis.data.promised_date | 2026-11-07 | Yours to define. Ask for a format in the schema description so your system can read it. |
analysis.data.spoke_to_customer | true | False when someone else answered. In that case the agent shouldn't have discussed the account at all. |
analysis.template.name | emi_promise_to_pay | The registered SMS template the analysis picked from your list, with its slots filled from the call. |
analysis.template.missing | [] | Slots the call didn't establish, such as a date when the customer only said 'next week'. Check before sending. |
status | completed | How the call ended. Only completed, voicemail and timeout are billed. |
Cost
What a 90-second call costs
Worked out from our price list. 90 seconds is our assumption for a typical connected call of this kind, not a measurement from your calls. Put your own volumes into the AI calling cost calculator.
| Tier | Rate | Per connected call | Per 1,000 connected calls | Monthly minimum |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | ₹1 / min | ₹1.50 | ₹1,500 | ₹1,00,000 a month |
| T3 | ₹3 / min | ₹4.50 | ₹4,500 | ₹50,000 a month |
| T5 | ₹5 / min | ₹7.50 | ₹7,500 | None |
- T5 and T3 include Mirai phone calling and call insights. On T1 they are optional: phone calling at ₹0.30/min and insights at ₹0.20/min. With both on, this call comes to about ₹2.25 on T1. Mirai phone calling is metered on the carrier's billing block, so treat that figure as an estimate.
- T1's ₹1,00,000 monthly minimum pays for 66,666 calls of this length; T3's ₹50,000 monthly minimum pays for 11,111 calls of this length. Monthly commitments are credited to your wallet. Unused credit never expires. Paid usage counts towards the minimum, and only a shortfall is settled at month end.
- Calls that ring out, are busy or fail to connect are not billed. A voicemail is billed like a connected call.
In detail
Polite AI reminder calls before a payment falls due: in detail
Why do pre-due reminders suit an agent?
A pre-due reminder is information: what’s due, how much, when, and how to pay. Most people already know and say so in a sentence. Some have a reason the date won’t work, and a few think the amount is wrong. That spread is what the agent is for. It gets through the routine calls, writes down the promised dates, and leaves the disputes and hard cases for your team.
The tone has to be right on every call, and an agent’s tone is set by its prompt. That’s an advantage for once. The same polite script runs on the first call of the morning and the five-hundredth, and you can read the transcripts to check. It’s still only as good as what you wrote, so write it carefully.
The other half of the job is what happens after the call. “Salary सात तारीख को आएगी” becomes a promised date in a field, and the analysis can pick the right message from your registered SMS templates, with the date filled in. If the customer only said “next week”, the date slot is reported as missing and nothing is guessed.
How do you set it up?
- Write the prompt with the facts per customer as variables:
{{product}},{{amount_due}},{{due_date}},{{payment_methods}}. Spell out the limits: confirm identity first, never discuss the account with anyone else, never mention consequences you didn’t list, don’t take card or UPI details, and say the branch will answer anything else. - Add a pre-call tool that checks your system for a payment made since the list was exported, and a
skip_callrule on its answer. Calling someone who paid this morning is the quickest way to annoy them. - Turn on analysis with
payment_status,promised_dateandspoke_to_customer. Add your DLT-registered SMS templates as a fixed list, numbering each{#var#}slot and describing its format. - Test it in the browser as a customer who already paid, one who disputes the amount and a relative who answers the phone.
- Upload the due list as a campaign a few days before the due date, with a calling window you’ve decided on, a low retry count and a budget. Mark the account reference as extra info.
- After the first round, filter the contacts that weren’t reached and press New campaign from these for a second round on another day.
- Your webhook handler reads
call.processed, stores the promise and sends the chosen template oncemissingis empty.
What should stay with your team?
Disputes about the amount, requests for a moratorium or restructuring, hardship and anything legal. So does every account that’s already overdue past the point your policy hands to people. The agent can’t transfer calls, so for these it promises a call from the team and notes it. Read the disputed calls in full; they’re often the earliest sign of a billing error on your side.
What rules apply to these calls?
If you’re a lender regulated by the RBI, read its circular of 12 August 2022 on regulated entities employing recovery agents. It says regulated entities and their agents must not call borrowers before 8:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m. for recovery of overdue loans. It also bars threatening or anonymous calls, persistent calling, and intruding on the privacy of the borrower’s family, referees and friends. It applies to commercial banks, all-India financial institutions, NBFCs including housing finance companies, co-operative banks and asset reconstruction companies, and microfinance loans are covered by separate directions. A pre-due reminder isn’t recovery of an overdue loan, but if you run both kinds of list, one calling window inside those hours is simpler to audit. Check whether later RBI directions have changed this for your entity.
TRAI’s Third Amendment to the TCCCPR, notified on 18 September 2026, asks every sender to declare software-placed calls, including artificial-voice calls, to its originating telecom provider in advance with the numbers it will use, and treats undeclared calls as unsolicited. It also describes service calls as giving a customer information about a product or service they have, and says these aren’t promotional and don’t need explicit consent. A reminder that tries to sell a top-up loan on the same call is no longer just a reminder.
What does a reminder cost?
On T1 a connected minute costs ₹1 with a ₹1,00,000 monthly commitment, plus ₹0.30 for Mirai phone calling and ₹0.20 for call insights if you switch them on. On T5 it’s ₹5 a minute, pay as you go, with both included. Prices exclude GST. You’re billed for connected time, and unanswered calls are free. The cost block assumes about 90 seconds connected, an estimate: “हाँ, कर दूँगी” ends sooner, while a promised date plus a question runs a little longer. Weigh it against the cost of a bounced payment and the follow-up it triggers. See Pricing, or run your due-list size through the cost calculator.

Questions
Will the agent ever threaten or pressure a customer?
It says what your prompt allows, so write the limits into it: no talk of consequences beyond the facts you list, no repeated pushing, no argument when the customer disputes the amount. Then read transcripts from the first calls before you raise the volume.
What if a family member answers the phone?
The prompt should have the agent confirm it's speaking to the customer by name before mentioning the payment. If it isn't, the agent asks for a good time to call back and ends the call without saying what it was about.
Can the customer pay during the call?
No, and the agent shouldn't ask for card or UPI details. The analysis can pick a payment-link template for your system to send after the call.
Can we use this for overdue accounts too?
The calls work the same way, but the rules for recovering overdue loans are stricter. For regulated lenders, the RBI circular cited on this page limits calling hours and bars persistent or threatening calls, so set your campaign window and retries with that in mind and keep disputes and hardship cases with your team.
How can a reminder call cost ₹1 a minute?
₹1 a minute is the T1 voice rate, for teams that commit ₹1,00,000 a month, and the commitment is credited to your wallet. We can price it there because we run our own speech recognition, language model and voice on our own GPUs in India; owning the stack is how we keep a minute cheap at volume. On T1, Mirai phone calling adds ₹0.30 a minute (nothing from us if you bring your own Plivo number) and call insights add ₹0.20 a minute if you turn them on. Wallet credit never expires, though the commitment is a minimum monthly spend. A business trying it on one month's due list can start on T5 at ₹5 a minute, pay as you go, with phone calling and insights included. T3 is ₹3 a minute with a ₹50,000 commitment. Prices exclude GST.
